Trout Fishing
The trout fishing in and around Turangi is world renown and includes fly fishing in the rivers and streams or trolling and jigging in the lakes.

Some of the Tongariro Rivers best fishing can be had just minutes from you bedroom at Ika Lodge, fishing equipment is available for hire and Ika Lodge can assist with experienced guides to provide an introduction to flyfishing or to guide those more experienced to some of the most interesting fishing pools.

Boat charters for fishing Lake Taupo and Helifishing to those very remote and inaccessable streams can be arranged on request.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing
New Zealands best one day walk, an alpine trek over the volcanic terrain of the central plateau with breathtaking mountain scenery. Ika Lodge can provide details and arrange transport for your adventure.

Skiing
With the ski fields of Mt Ruapahu located 35 mins from Ika Lodge visitors can experience skiing an active volcano. Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields provide excellent skiing from June to October. Ski hire, lift passes and ski school can be arranged.

Bush and Mountain Walks
The bush and mountain environment can best be appreciated on one of the numerous walks that are available in the area. Walks to suit all levels of fitness and duration are within easy reach, details and maps are available at the Lodge.

White Water Rafting
Rafting expeditions on Tongariro River operate year round and provide the excitement of Grade 3 rapids or a more gently trip down the river but still with that touch of daring as you transit the rapids.

Hot Mineral Pools
The steam can be seen rising from the hills above Turangi and the hot mineral pools and geothermal walk located at Tokaanu 10 mins from Ika Lodge provides perfect relaxation after the Tongariro Crossing trek, a days fishing or skiing.

Horse Trekking
Horse trekking in the forests and mountains of the area provides a unique experience for both novice and experienced riders.

Biking
Mountain biking tours through the local forests are available or bicycles are available at the Lodge for guests for exploring the local area and lake shore.
